Free Motion Quilting

Saturday 24th June, 10 - 4pm. £65

Learn about the equipment and materials used in free motion quilting.

You will do a test sample and then produce a practice piece using the 'pattern' of your choice. We will then bind this and touch on how to join pre-quilted fabrics. Finally, we will be starting a sashed half-hexi panel, to be quilted free motion or with machine embroidery stitching which you can make into a variety of things - it's up to you!

Price includes a folder with colourful information sheets, a half-hexi template and fabric for your batting.

You will need to bring your machine, free motion quilting foot, cotton fabrics - I used a fat quarter pack containing 6 pieces, and two other fat quarters - make sure you have some plain fabrics amongst your selection. Quilting gloves if used and preferably, a 40 or 50 weight cotton thread for machine quilting. I used Mettler silk finish multi.

The workshop is with Bridget Goodhead. Bridget is a retired teacher. For many years she taught Design Technology and for 15 years, also taught nightschool, where the ladies did a variety of needlecrafts from dressmaking to machine knitting, embroidery and macrame (to name a few!)
