Enamelled Copper Jewellery
With Amanda Graham

New dates for 2024 coming soon.

All materials and equipment are provided for the day, as well as refreshments and a simple homecooked lunch

About the workshop
This is a beginners enamelling workshop using copper. On the day you'll make a pendant and a pair of earrings with silver earring wires.

As a former science teacher, Amanda tends to take a science lesson inspired approach which is very structured with an initial discussion on safety, not just for the workshop, but using equipment and enamel powder. This is a very informative workshop, built on Amanda's wealth of knowledge, with demonstrations at every stage of the process and tips for if you want to set up to do your enamelling at home.

About the tutor
Amanda is a Derbyshire-based jeweller working with silver, gold and an alloy of silver and copper, called Shibuichi. Her work is inspired largely by the processes she uses to make each piece. She embraces her background as a chemist, experimenting with different reaction types to achieve the effects she wants to create; these include reticulation, acid etching, oxidisation and electrolytic gold plating. She uses recycled metals and only sources precious stones from countries that do not use child labour or impose poor working conditions.
