Sunflowers in the Garden

Sunflowers for your garden in the garden

Saturday 22nd May, 10 - 5, £55

Book on both Alliums and Sunflowers in the garden for £100 (£10 discount)

About the course:

Price includes all basic materials, but due to Covid I ask that you bring your own lunch.

Learn various wire forming techniques and create a wonderful everlasting Sunflower for your garden or as indoor decor for your home.

The workshop is suitable for anyone and is a nice way to learn basic metalwork and jewellery making skills. Please note though, the technique is a little repetitive and the wire used for the large Sunflowers needs to be relatively thick so it may be tiring on your hands, so do bare this in mind if you have any issues with hand strength.

You’ll get a handout to remind you of how to do the basics as well as suggestions for suppliers so you can make more at home.

We'll all start with learning the basic technique, creating a couple of small stylized flowers before going on to create a smaller sunflower. (The small Sunflower head is approximately 15cm in diameter) In the afternoon we'll create a larger flower which will be a wonderful feature for your garden. (The large Sunflower head will be approximately 30cm in diameter)

We'll all start with learning the basic technique, creating a couple of small stylized flowers before then going on to create a small sunflower. (The Sunflower is approximately 15cm in diameter)

Covid - 19 Precautions:

These workshops will take place in The Making House garden; where we have a number of covered outdoor spaces. There is separate access to the garden and direct access from the garden to a toilet, there'll be plenty of hand sanitizer, paper towels etc on hand. I have a covered area and a gazebo should we have bad weather. Due to the current situation, I ask that you bring your own lunch. Please bring along a mask too, to wear when moving between spaces, if you need to go inside and if there's any prolonged closer working practise.

I will of course be keeping an eye out on government information and should there be any changes to the plan I'll let you know.

If on the run up to the workshop or on the day you have any symptoms of Covid -19, please let me know as soon as possible and do not come. Likewise, should I display any possible symptoms I would obviously cancel. I will of course give a full refund or offer the online course instead, whichever you prefer.

Due to the current situation dates may have to be changed, in the event of this happening we will postpone and offer a new date, however, we will be more than happy to give a full refund if this is your preference.

About Anna:

The workshop is with Anna Roebuck, who began to develop the wire flowers in response to a Remembrance day commission and has since gone on to explore making different types of flowers out of wire.
