Sunflowers for your garden in the garden

Saturday 12th September, 10 - 5, £55

Small Sunflower online workshop, Tuesday 15th September 6.30 -9pm, £35

Book on both Alliums and Sunflowers in the garden for £100 (£10 discount)

Due to the current situation dates may have to be changed, in the event of this happening we will postpone and offer a new date, however we will, of course, be more than happy to give a full refund if this is your preference.

I feel confident that this can be done safely in my garden with limited numbers of 6 per workshop, but alternatively you could just create a small sunflower in my online workshop on Tuesday 15th September 6.30 -9pm.

About the course:

Price includes all basic materials, but due to Covid I ask that you bring your own refreshments and your own lunch.

Learn various wire forming techniques and create a wonderful everlasting Sunflower for your garden or as indoor decor for your home.

The workshop is suitable for anyone and is a nice way to learn basic metalwork and jewellery making skills. Please note though, the technique is a little repetitive and the wire used for the large Sunflowers needs to be relatively thick so it may be tiring on your hands, so please bare this in mind if you have any issues with hand strength.

You’ll get a handout to remind you of how to do the basics as well as suggestions for suppliers so you can make more at home.

In the garden:

We'll all start with learning the basic technique, creating a couple of small stylized flowers before going on to create a smaller sunflower. (The small Sunflower head is approximately 15cm in diameter) In the afternoon we'll create a larger flower which will be a wonderful feature for your garden. (The large Sunflower head will be approximately 30cm in diameter)

Covid - 19 Precautions:

There is separate access to the garden and direct access from the garden to a toilet, there'll be plenty of hand sanitizer, paper towels etc on hand. I have a covered area and a gazebo should we have bad weather. You will have your own set of sterilized tools and materials. Due to the current situation, I ask that you bring your own lunch; can you please bring a mask too, for extra precaution, should there be occasions of more prolonged inside/demonstration time.

I will of course be keeping an eye out on government information and should there be any changes to the plan I'll let you know.

If on the run up to the workshop or on the day you have any symptoms of Covid -19, please let me know as soon as possible and do not come. Likewise, should I display any possible symptoms I would obviously cancel. I will of course give a full refund or offer the online course instead, whichever you prefer.

About Anna:

The workshop is with Anna Roebuck, who began to develop the wire flowers in response to a Remembrance day commission and has since gone on to explore making different types of flowers out of wire.

Anna also runs a Wire Poppy workshop which is a great introduction to working with wire and simpler than this one, so it may be worth starting with poppies first.
