Gael is a potter who works in her garden studio in Rocester. She makes beautiful botanical themed vessels, wall hangings, succulent pebbles and jewellery. Her work is intertwined with her love of gardening and sows and grows most of the plants she uses in her work.

Workshop details

On the day you can create either a succulent pebble or a vessel. These will be made during the morning and decorated after lunch. The workshop will give you a chance to learn techniques such as coiling, slab rolling & assembling, impressing foliage, using moulds & formers & using coloured slips to decorate your pieces.

Gael has various tools and stamps which give lovely textured surfaces. Like Gael, you may wish to use nature as inspiration, you could bring in seed heads and foliage from your own garden or pick some pieces from the garden here at The Making House.

Your pieces will then be taken away and slowly dried before twice firing. First a Bisque firing and then gloss, where oxides & textured glazes are used to further enhance your design.

We'll then arrange for you to pick up your pot from The Making House or from Gael in Rocester, whichever is better for you. If you're travelling from further afield, we can arrange to post your pot to you at an additional cost.

You can find Gael on both Instagram and Facebook as gaelcherrypotsofjoy. If you have any questions please feel free to message Gael or e.mail Anna at themakinghouse@gmail.com
