Sewing Machine Basics workshop
Saturday 10th February 2018, 10am - 4pm, £65

Join our sewing tutor, Bridget, for a day learning how to use your sewing machine and make your own scissor holder.

Along the way you will learn the basic skills to help you understand your machine and create your sewing projects, including:

- Equipment
- Basic machine maintenance including machine needles!
- Machine driving test!
- Threading; tension
- Machine plate markings and needle positions
- Decorative stitches
- Seams and neatening
- Curves and corners - reducing bulk
- Machine feet - blind hemming; zipper and buttonholes

There will be a folder with information sheets and sample making fabrics - all included in price.

You will need to bring your sewing machine; fabric(s) for your cushion and accessories (buttons etc); sewing equipment. During the day you will practice new skills and make samples then put skills learned into producing a cushion cover!

Refreshments will be provided, but please bring along a packed lunch.

The workshop is with Bridget Goodhead. Bridget is a retired teacher. For many years she taught Design Technology and for 15 years, also taught nightschool, where the ladies did a variety of needlecrafts from dressmaking to machine knitting, embroidery and macrame (to name a few!)
